INDUSTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
TERMS OF REFERENCE
A. PURPOSE
The Statistical Plan Committee appointed by the Board of Directors (the Board) of the General Insurance Statistical Agency (GISA) shall establish an Industry Advisory Committee. The Industry Advisory Committee will operate as an ad-hoc Committee.
The Industry Advisory Committee’s mandate is to provide advice on technical and business issues pertaining to the mandated statistical plans (Automobile Statistical Plan, the Commercial Liability Statistical Plan for Ontario, and the Ontario Statutory Accident Benefits Statistical Plan) and other statistical data as requested by the Statistical Plan Committee.
B. FUNCTIONS OF THE INDUSTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Industry Advisory Committee will provide advice on technical and business issues as requested by the Statistical Plan Committee.
C. GOVERNANCE
C.1 Composition
To meet its responsibilities, the Industry Advisory Committee will consist of individuals from the insurance industry and staff of the service provider providing statistical plan services to GISA.
C.2 Appointment
The Chair and Members of the Industry Advisory Committee will be appointed by the Statistical Plan Committee.
C.3 Meetings
The Industry Advisory Committee will meet as required.
C.4 Substitution
Substitutes may attend meetings of the Industry Advisory Committee with the consent of the Chair.
D. OPERATION
The GISA Contract Manager will be the Secretary and organize meetings of the Industry Advisory Committee. At the meetings, GISA Management will bring issues for advice from the Industry Advisory Committee. Representation of rate boards will be invited to participate in meetings of the Industry Advisory Committee.
E. GENERAL
E.1 Confidentiality
Members of the Committee will be asked to hold as confidential all information and materials provided and not discuss or disclose such to any third party who is not a Committee member or Chair approved substitute.
E.2 Amendment of Terms
These Terms of Reference may be amended from time to time. Any changes to the Terms of Reference must be approved by the Board of Directors.
