All insurers (including unincorporated groups, exchanges or pools of organizations) that write commercial liability insurance in Ontario must report data in accordance with the CLSP manual.
The CLSP was introduced as a mandatory statistical plan in Ontario following concerns regarding the availability and affordability of insurance for business owners in the late 1980s. Statistics captured include various classes of business such as general liability, professional liability and directors’ and officers’ liability.
