Fred Barth

C. Fred Barth was appointed a Director of the General Insurance Statistical Agency as well as a member of its Finance and Audit Committee in 2005.   Mr. Barth is currently Chair of the GISA Finance and Audit Committee. 

Holding a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, Mr. Barth achieved his Chartered Accountant designation in 1959 and became a Fellow Chartered Accountant in 1980.   Mr. Barth held numerous positions with Price Waterhouse, including Edmonton Managing Partner, before retiring in 1996.

 Mr. Barth has served on a wide range of professional accountancy boards and committees, including Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, the Professional Examination Board in Chartered Accountancy and of investigating officer and hearing committee Chairman for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta Conduct & Discipline Committee. 

Mr. Barth has acted as an advisor and financial expert to both public and private sector organizations including the Alberta Auditor-General, the Alberta Treasury, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and the Committee on Financial Audit of the Alberta Medial Association.

Mr. Barth’s community involvement includes working with the United Way of Edmonton, the Canadian Cancer Society and serving as Chairman of the Caritas Hospital Foundation.
